1 ! J ; , ; . ; : : : BELMONTS BOWIE STABLE Blind Play, Lucky Play and Diagram Will Race for Chairman of Jockey Club. BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 12. August Belmonts Bowie string will be made up of Blind Play, Lucky Play and Diagram. The first two named are three-year-olds and the other a four-year-old. Ordinance has been slow in recovering from the sickness contracted on the cars between Saratoga and Belmont Park in early September. Ladkin, winner of renewals of the Carlton, Broadway and Dwycr Stakes and the Edgemere Handicap and conqueror of Epinard in the second of the International races, fell lame at Latonia in October training for the third International and is out of racing for the year. Lucky Play, a son of Fair Play and Lucky Catch and half-brother of the brilliant Lucky Hour, is not the most consistent horse about, but he can run like the wind when he feels like trying. He showed that at Yonkers, once in July, and twice in October. In July he easily defeated Pepp, Aga Khan and Blind Play in a renewal of the Knickerbocker Handicap, a dash of one mile and a sixteenth. In October he defeated Sleepy Head, Rinkey, Rialto, Tick Tock and Laurano in a renewal of the Scarsdale Handicap and Feysun, Modo, Rigel, Isosceles, Nancy Langhorne and Procyon in an overnight race. In the last race he stepped a mile and seventy yards in 1.42, under 120 pounds. Lucky Play and Diagram will be the Belmont starters in the Gadsden D. Bryan Memorial, a 0,000 handicap at one mile for two-year-olds and upward. Blind Play and Diagram will be pointed for the Thanksgiving Handicap, of 0,000 added, at one mile and three-sixteenths. Lucky Play does not appear to want to go on. Blind Play, a son of Fair Play and Blue Grass, is better over a distance run than at one mile. Diagram, a son of Fair Play and Dragnet, is a brother of Deckmate and half-brother of Drastic. He was wind-broken at three, but an operation cured him. His September form was brilliant and it is not improbable that he will turn out to be one of the smartest distance runners- of the Bowie meeting.
