TWO WESTERN STARS OF THE 1924 RACING SEASON iTTTinnnfnrrTTnr-niinii itirrwi i i Ti- t rnr" iiii"-ir ;mm3y-- BLACK GOLD CHILHOWEE Black Gold and Chilhcwee, two of the stars of the threc-year-cld division of 1924, have been retired for the year and arc now enjoying the leisure of winter quarters in Kentucky. Black Gold won four Derbys, including the Golden Jubilee Kentucky Derby, worth 2,775 to the winner. The black .whirlwind started ,in thirteen-races, -of which h? won nine and accounted for the large sum of 1,340 in stakes and purses. He proved that ie could run fast and far, weight and distance holding no terrors for him. Ghlhowesiwas a keen rival of Black Gold and ran some remarkable races during the year, though his record was marred by two ignominious failures, namely, in thand third-International Speerd-and the Fal:s Gity Handicap. Altogether he started in fourteen races, of which he won seven and earned in stakes and purses ihz goodly sum of 5,130.
