- SARATOGA STAKES CLOSING Seven Events of 1925 Meeting Open for Entries Until Dec. 1. - . . - Trarers, Alabama and Saratoga Sales Stakes of 192G "Will Close on the Same Date. f NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. 14. Seven rich events to be decided at the 1925 meeting-of the Saratoga Association and three others to be run in 192G will close with secretary. V. E. Schaumburg December 1. The 1925 stakes listed for closing are the United States Hotel, the Grand Union Hotel, the Spinaway, the Hopeful, the Consolation double event, the Saratoga Sales, Stakes and. the Grab Bag Handicap, all for two-year-olds. Tha 192S fixtures closing are the Travers, the Alabama and the Saratoga Sales Stakes, all for three-year-olds. The most important of the 1925 events in the list is the Hopeful of 0,000 guaranteed at six and a half furlongs. Subscriptions to this event cost 0. A further subscription of 0 is due March 1, 1925, and the final subscription of 00 each is set for June 1. The starting fee is 00. Weights are fixed under a scale of penalties and allowances. The United States Hotel and Grand Union Hotel Stakes are both of 0,000 guaranteed. Both are at three-quarters and the conditions fix penalties and allowances. The Spinaway is of ,500 guaranteed and is limited to two-year-old fillies. This event also is at three-quarters. CONSOLATION CONDITIONS. The Consolation double event has a total guaranteed value of ,500. Claiming conditions are fixed and the event is designed to furnish employment for two-year-olds named for the Hopeful, Grand Union Hotel, United States Hotel and Spinaway Stakes which fail to live up to expectations. The firsc event is at five and a half furlongs and the second is at three-quarters mile. The Saratoga Sales Stakes, limited to two-year-olds sold at public auction as yearlings at Saratoga during the previous season, carried an added value of ,500 and the sales company which sold the winner will donate a 00 cup. Colts are to carry 122 pounds and fillies 119 pounds. The Grab Bag Handicap is of ,000 guaranteed at three-quarters. It differs from other stake fixtures offered in that the conditions allow subscribers to delay naming their individual candidates until August 6, 1925. Horses may be leased by subscribers for this event IMPORTANT 3-YEAR-OLD EVENTS. The three-year-old events of 1926 listed for closing include two of the most important events for this age division offered by tho Saratoga Association. The Travers at a mile and a quarter has a guaranteed value of 5,000. Weights are fixed a scale of penalties and allowances. Initial subscriptions for this event are 5. A further payment of 5 each is due on March 1, 1925, and another on November 1, 1925. The final payment is 0, due March 1, 192G, and the starting fee is 00. The Alabama of 2,500 guaranteed is for three-year-old fillies and is under conditions similar to those which prevail in the Travers. The distance is a mile and a quarter. The Saratoga Sales Stakes of ,500 added for three-year-olds is confined to horses sold at auction at Saratoga during August, 1924. It carries an added value of ,500 and weights are six pounds below the scale.
