SEQUEL, away well and hard ridden in the stretch, finished gamely and outstayed MEDDLING MATTIE through the last seventy yards. MEDDLING MATTIE showed the most early speed and finished resolutely. SPANISH ROSE raced well and was a prominent coutender from the start. ROYAL DICK raced fonvardly and had no mishaps. FIRE ON began fast and set the pace under restraint for the first half mile, saved much ground when coming into the stretch and, under hard riding, outstayed WILL AYELLS. The latter had to be ridden wide and also had to overcome some interference, but finished well. SPANDOR came fast through the last eighth. AMIR was away poorly and raced into exhaustion in the first half mile in gaining the lead on the last turn. GRAEME, given a good ride, showed improved form and, setting a fast pace, only tired in the last few strides. HOPELESS was under restraint until in the last quarter and finished well in the final drive.
