FIRST SHIPMENT TO MIAMI Fourteen Horses Leave Jamaica for the Florida Course Barns in Readiness for Them. NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. IS. The first shipment of race horses to the new Miami track left Jamaica Saturday over the Atlantic Coast Line. The horses will be unloaded on the grounds of the Miami Jockey Club as the spur built by the Florida East Coast Railroad, was completed several days ago. . There were fourteen horses in the shipment. Ten of these, including Socrates, Sky- scraper, Pat Casey, Myrtle Belle and others,1 were shipped by W. J. Both. In the same car John R. Thornby sent four, including "Venus, winner of the last race of the New York season run at the Hunts meeting at Belmont Park on Election Day. Luke A. Cassidy, who has returned to Miami, after spending a few days at Pim-lico, reported to horsemen that all was in readiness for shipments. While a number of stables will race at Jefferson Park for the first New Orleans meeting, and then go on to Miami, many others will ship direct to Florida at the close of the Maryland and Kentucky seasons.
