HIDDEN JEWEL showed high speed, quickly drew away into a good lead, but tired badly under punishment tvhen challenged by MEUKIMAC. CHAMPIGNOL saved ground entering the stretch, closed a big gap nnd finished fast. THESSALY ran well all the way. MARIE MAXIM quit. VENIZELOS and FOYLE showed early speed, then tired and fell out of contention. . FLAX forced a fast pace from the start, disposed of WILD GOOSE in the final eighth, but tired at the end. WILD GOOSE showed high speed from the start and tired in the final eighth. TESTER, away well and forcing a fast pace from the start, weakened in the final drive. BILL OFLYNN showed high speed, but ran wide entering the stretch, then came again under severe pressure.
