WILL RACE AT HAVRE Horses From Winter Tracks Arriving at Maryland Course. ♦ Stables From Miami, New Orleans and Tijuana to Be Followed by Winter Idlers. — 9 HAVRE DE GRACE. Md., April 4.— A. Woodliffe has arrived here from New Orleans with P. H. Sims Prince of Umbria and Dorothy R. Sims, C. Pillons Alex Woodliffe and three or four other horses. J. W. May has reported with Col. Maxwell Howards Frigate, Nose Dive and Buz Fuz ; W. C. Kennedy with Strut Miss Lizzie ; J. Wessler with Valentino and three stable companions, and Kimball Patterson will arrive presently with Mill wick, a three-year-old that raced at Tijuana for Charles A. Mills, a sportsman of Philadelphia. Patterson has tarried at Bowie, where Millwick ought to earn the cost of the transcontinental trip of himself and six others of the stable in the course of the next few weeks. Prince of Umbria. one of the best three-year-olds of a couple of years ago, rested through the winter and appears to have benefited by it. Dorothy R. Sims, a three-year-old by Short Grass, won at Jefferson Park just before Woodliffe started north. Alex Woodliffe did not win at New Orleans, but his last performance indicated a return to condition. ALMOST READY FOR COLORS. Frigate and Nose Dive also rested through the winter, but trainer May began to work on them early in March and they are about ready to show their best. Frigate, a son of Frizzle and Kaskaskia, is well along in years, but still possesses fine speed. He started ten times last year and won four purses, not bad for a six-year-old. In his last winning race, a dash of one mile and seventy yards, at Yon-kers, he shouldered 125 pounds and defeated Dong Point. Feysun, Fredericktown, Wani-pee, McAuliffe, Prince James and Wilkes-Bar re. Nose Dive, a five-year-old last year, likewise won four races. He defeated Sunayr and Long Point in one race at Saratoga and Eaglet and Spic and Span in another. Buz Fuz is a three-year-old by Short Grass that was supported some weeks ago as a possible Louisiana Derby winner. He did not make much of a showing in the Derby, but that did not mean that he was a bad horse. He had only started in one other race, lie was probably shy on racing education. Valentino, a well-bred son of Whisk Broom II. and Beauteous, broke, out of the maiden ranks at Jefferson Park Friday. March 13, when he defeated Tea Tray, Toddy Toast, Delsan, Towtons Rose and Nappie at one mile and a sixteenth. GOOD HOUSES IX RIDDLE LOT. American Flag. Maid at Arms and Big Blaze are the best horses of mature years that Samuel D. Riddle of Pennsylvania will race at Havre de Irace. With these, which wintered at Glen Riddle Farm in Worcester County. Md.. are coming next week two-year-old colts by Man o War from Irsula Emma, Star Fancy and Thrasher and fillies by Man o War from Masquerade, Highest Appeal, Shady and Batanoea and by Friar I Rock from Problem. American Flag, one of two first-class two-year-old colts of Man o Wars first crop — the other was by Hisself— is Mr. Riddles candidate for the impending renewals, of the Chesapeake, Preakness and Kentucky Derby. Man o War. as everybody knows, was the i star two and three-year-old of American j racing in 1919 and 1920. He won the Potomac Handicap here in September, 1920. American Flag, whose dam is Lady Com fey. a daughter of Koi Herode. defeated Single Foot. Cloudland and some others at Laurel; Park last fall in the Manor Handicap, a 0,000 rare of one mile, after winning three other races. American Flag looks like a natural long distance runner. He will probably meet some of the best three-year-olds of the East in the Chesapeake, which will be a 0,000 race of one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds, and the first Preakness and Kentucky Derby elimination test. Maid at Arms, probably, was one of the best Man o War fillies that raced l.ist year. She is Mr. Riddles laks candidate. Big l.laze, son of Campfire and Queen of the Hills, probably, will make his bow in a renewal of the $.".,000 Harford Handicap, a dash of three-quarters for three-year-olds and over that will be the opening days feature and, after that, train for the ,000 Philadelphia Handicap at one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and over. He is also intended for the 5,000 Dixie Handicap, the oi ening day stake at Pimlico. Big Blaze was one of the most Kuccaasful of last years three-year-olds. He won the Interborough and Washington handicaps at Jamaica and Laurel. He defeated Zev in the former and Sarazen among others, in the latter. The Washington is a 5,000 race of one mile and a quarter.
