I LEXINGTON TURF NOTES LEXINGTON, Ky., May 2. Herbert P. Gardner, well known owner and breeder, was among the visitors en route to the East. Allen Gallaher returned this afternoon from New Orleans, where he had gone hurriedly to attend his brother, John C, who is ill. The latter also returned and is still in a bad way. Bit of White foaled a filly Friday morning, sired by Black Servant. May Bird is another that recently foaled a filly at the Idle Hour Stock Farm. Harry Herdel, in charge of the Howard Oots stable, has arranged to ship Zante, Welcome, Begonia. Laveen, Bulletin and Larie to Douglas Park next Thursday. The horses will be in charge of Howard Wells. Herdel will remain here with the other twelve horses belonging to the Oots stable. A large delegation of sportsmen came from Louisville to view the afternoons sport. Among the number were Mr. and Mrs. James B. Brown. Assistant trainer McNamara left Saturday night with three horses of the William Perkins stable for Maple Heights, where they will be raced. The horses shipped were Boots and Shoes, Dr. A. Lowenthal and Oak. W. A. Baumgartner has arranged to ship his stable of ten horses to Aurora, 111., at the conclusion of the Lexington meeting. Jockey L. Montgomery will go along to do the riding. Fred M. Grabner, Chicago owner, has purchased from J. Bruner the yearling bay colt by Prince Pal — Fleeing Venus. William Perkins will transfer thirty-two horses to Churchill Downs at the end of the Lexington meeting. Ten others that are not ready to race will be left at the local track. Starter Harry Morrissey whose home near this city at Kempland Farm was totally destroyed by fire a few days ago, was at the track today. He will soon return to his old profession, having been engaged to send the fields away at the Aurora and Coney Island meetings.
