STAKES FOR CONEY ISLAND Cincinnati Derby of 5,000 Added, Big Prize of Inaugural Meeting of New Ohio Track. CINCINNATI, Ohio, May 18.— The new Coney Island race course, n« ar this city, which will be operated by Exhibitors and Ilret-ders Association, Inc., hopes to emulate the famous Kentucky Derby and as an auspicious start in that direction announces the Cincinnati Derby, with 5,000 added, at one mile and a quarter. This is indeed a pretentious offering for a new track and the rich prize is bound to attract a large and representative band of three-year-olds when the entries for this outstanding feature and other stakes close for entries on June 6. Racing secretary Martin Nathanson has arranged a tempting stake program for Coney Island meeting, which will run for fiLy-eight days from July 6 to September 10. Altogether there are twelve stellar events, the list, in addition to the 5,000 added Cincinnati Derby, including the Enquirer handicap and Hotel Sinton Stakes, each with ,500 added, the Western Hills Handicap. ,000 added ; the Cincinnatus, Times-Star, Commercial-Tribune, Post, East Hill handicaps and Jimmie and Queen City Club Stakes, each with ,000 added. Certainly it is an ambitious program for an inaugural meeting and undoubtedly will assure some high class racing for the new track.
