COOPER * Corinth Finally Wins For Him at Aurora. • First in Geneva Handicap, Equaling Mile Track Record — Three for Jockey Noe. 1 AURORA. 111., June 11.— The Geneva Handicap, at one mile, was todays feature at Aurora and of the five originally listed to start one. Slice, was withdrawn. L. T. Cooper finally scored a victory when Corinth goth home in front of F. J. Boyles Strut Miss Lizzie hy a length, with V. S. Hea-tons Dustabout a length behind the latter and Trapnet fourth. There was a long post delay due to the bad actions of the ultimate winner, which refused to line up with the others. They j ; were away to a perfect start and Dustabout got home in front of F. J. Boyles Strut Miss Lizzie and Corinth third, next to the | inner rail. They raced in this position to the I i stretch turn, whore Strut Miss Lizzie got j her head in front of Dustabout. In the ! meantime Corinth had gone to the outside ! i and Noe started to work on him in earnest, I j Midway of the stretch the first three were j j running head and head, jut Corinth was j going fastest and was gradually drawing ] away until at the end he had almost a j i length advantage. Trapnet, although he ran ! in last position throughout, showed a good effort and will likely win soon. The weather was more pleasant than yes- I j I terday and the day was ideal for the sport. ! | The rain which threatened about noon failed j I to materialize. The track was very fast, • ; as was shown when Corinth equalled the ■ 1 track record for one mile. The attendance ■ was good, considering it was an off day. j LARGEST FIELD OF DAT. The days largest field paraded to the pDst in the fifth race and they were dispatched with but little delay. Ascot went to the front closely followed by Mulciber and this pair showed the way until the last sixteenth, with the former in front by two lengths Ascot then tired and Mulciber passed him to take the major portion of the purse, he having enough left at the end to hold Nor-field, which finished fast, safe by a neck. The latter was a rank outsider in the speculation and paid 4.40 for place certificates. Ascot just lasted to save third place from Winnie OWynn. Jockey Noe scored his second success of the day when he piloted War Winner to an easy victory over a cheap band in the sixth race. The winner outstarted his opponents but relinquished the lead momentarily to Whirlwind after the field had gone three- Ighths. He again took the lead in the stretch when Whirlwind tired and opened ip many lengths on his competitors from there home. Whirlwind easily held second place safe, while Mac OBoy outgamed the others for third money. A small field of two-year-olds contested the first race and the Bradley bred colt Blah, wheih now races for G. Copora, was the winner. Thunder Shower, making the first start of her career, was second and Vacation Time third. The son of Behave Yourself finished fast and gamely through the streeh and, taking command neaxing the finishing line. held Thunder Shower safe by a half length. The latter showed fine speed throughout and held on gamely and will no doubt prove to be a useful filly. The faint-hearted Vacation Time quit badly in the Ftretch after having a good early lead and just managed to outstay Outlawed. BROWN ROCK WITH EASE. Brown Rock made a show of her opponents in the second race, she winning in hollow-fashion from a cheap band of sprinters. Merimeo sent her to the front soon after the start and she kept increasing her advantage to the end. Royal Princess, which finished second, made up much ground and easily bested Wahkoena, the third horse which had been prominent all the way. Dr. McArthur, the public choice, and usually a quick beginner, was last to leave the barrier and it appeared as if McClung was caught napping when the webbing was released. The third race brought out a field of good sprinters to race over the three-quarters route and the best conest of the meeting resulted. The eight contestants came down the finishing line in a bunch ami twenty yards from the end every one of them had a chance to win. My Destiny drew out from the others in the last few strides to be winner by a half length. Hourmore was placed aecond and Statler third, while Riviera beat Monastery by a nose for fourth place. Monastery took the lead at the start, closely followed by Riviera and they raced in this manner well in front of their field t„ the streeh turn, where Monastery ran to the outside f.-i:. ••. I.iviera taking command. There vai a general closing up at this ■tage, with Hourmore aad Satler moving up strongly. My Destiny was running well in fourth position, however, Bad when the finishing line was reached she hail the most in reserve. Hourmoru fcbuwed a fino performance, being last to leave the barrier and closing an immense gap. He finished fa-st. Statler also marie up a lot of ground. Kiviera obtained a good lead in tho stretch, but tired and could not hold it. Monastery show .1 that he is a game gelding j by coming again altar racing wide and fin- , ishing «rltl rare eoaraaje. fr. C.
