DAY OF FAST RACING Two Track Records Broken at V Aurora Course Poland and Trapnet Lower Mark Markfor for Five Eighths and Three Quarters Bespectively AURORA 111 June 22 The program at Aurora this afternoon consisted of seven claiming races but fine sport resulted The fields were fairly large in the majority of the contests and some good prices were hung out for those speculatively inclined The cloudy weather failed to keep down the at ¬ tendance and the ladies predominated this being one of the days that the management had set aside for their special benefit The rain of last night did not hurt the track and fast time was made in all the races two track records being shattered A light rain started to fall after the second race but it was not enough to darnege the course or the garments of the spectators T J Abrams fast gelding Poland turned in a recordbreaking performance in the third race shattering the track mark of 100 for ¬ merly held by Lady Fox Poland negotiated the distance in 58 according to the official timer and was timed privately in 59 He certainly showed much speed and beginning from the outside post position quickly raced to the front and turning for home had an ad Vantage of half a dozen lengths He Avon easily by a length and a half but Geo Groom which finished second was gaining at the end May Buddie got up in the last stride to take third place from Ivory IvoryL L PICHON Iff LIMELIGHT Another track record was broken when Trapnet ran threequarters in 112 in the fourth race thereby clipping onefifth second from the old mark The winner was away with the bunch arid soon showed in front He raced strongly throughout and kept increas ¬ ing his advantage to the end Finday raced well up today and outgamed Green Spring for second place in the last sixteenth The latter held Atomin safe for third place The winner was ridden by the promising apprentice IK Pichon and was his second victory for the afternoon he having had the mount on Po ¬ land landT T J Abrams made it a double victory when his Pelion was home in front of a fair band of sprinters in the sixth race after a driving finish W R Padgetts Old Broad ¬ way was second and Bonaventure Stables Meddling Mattie third The Abrams horse showed in front soon after the start and stayed there throughout but had to ridden near the end to hold Old Broaua safe the Padgett gelding showing a fine performance and finishing strongly Porto de Oro delayed the start for some time by his bad actions and was rushed into con tention turning for home but tired when the final test came Jockey Pichon rode a fine race on the winner It was his third suc ¬ cess of the afternoon and he showed enough to warrant his being rated as one of the best apprentices riding here hereNEGLECTED NEGLECTED BOONEVILLE WINS WINSA A large field of long distance performers of the cheaper class faced the starter in the sixth and Booneville despised by the j talent and practically neglected in the spec ¬ ulation was returned an easy winner He rushed out of the bunch after the stretch was reached and raced strongly to the end Slanderer which finished second made up much ground and was up in time to take second place from Sway which beat Gen Cadorna by a length for third money Boone ¬ ville paid the longest price of the day re ¬ turning 7800 for 2 mutuel certificates certificatesPandosta Pandosta raced in front all the way to take the closing race from Tea Tray while Stevens was third It was a good contest and a fitting windup to a day of surprises
