MARYLAND TURF NOTES | HAVRE DE CRACK. Md.. April 2.1. Starter James Milton officiated at the barrier under a handicap. He was suffering from a heavy cold and despite the doctors orders that he remain at home, went to Ike course to fill his duties. Cwyn Tompkins witnessed his first racing of the year this afternoon. He came over from Pimlico to see the horses in action. Tompkins reports that all of the horses under his care are in excellent health, but that some of them have not come up to expectations, which means that the stable will probably be weeded out before being shipped to New York. C. B. Bryson is reducing his stable preparatory to a summers campaign. This morning he disposed of Krica and Wellfinder at private sale to C. W. Foreman. Bryson plans to send his big string to the Oollins-ville course at the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting. B. W. Moore and several other owners are contemplating shipping from here to the Maple Heights track at the conclusion of the Havre de Crace meeting. Joe-key EL Howard was suspended for the remainder cf the meeting for rough riding on Bonarita in the seventh race yesterday. Willie l aly has arranged to ship Muriel S. and Briilo to Cuba tomorrow. He secured the latter from Bob Bobinson yesterday. Jockey Paul Maderia will accompany Paly and will db the riding for his stable at the Oriental Park meeting this summer. A number of the mutuel clerks working here have been engaged to go to Jacksonville to work in the mutuel department at the "Bog" meeting which will be held there following the close of the one at St. Petersburg. T. Wilson will ship his string, which includes Bager and several other useful platers, from here to Bouisville. Several horsemen have arranged with James Arthur to turn out some of the racers they wish to freshen up during the summer months at his farm in the Bong Creen Valley. Jockey W. Smith, who is riding here as a free lance, leaves for New York next Tuesday night to be on hand for the opening of the Jamaica meeting. Smith rode the W. J. Salmon colt Bisplay In most of his winning races last season. Ceorge Alexandra will send Care Free and the remainder of his string to Toronto next week. Jockey J. Callahan, feeling indisposed, cancelled his engagements this afternoon. J. H. Bewis arrived at the Pimlico course this morning with the big string of steeplechase horses he is training for J. E. Widener. Jockey B. Byers is still with the stable.
