AKRON HOST TO FAIR SEX Ladies Day Brings Out Biggest Crowd of Meeting — Caligula Takes Principal Attraction. AKRON. Ohio. April 23. -Due to the liberal patronage of the fair sex. it being ladies : day. the largest crowd of the meeting wit- ] nesstd the racing at Northampton Park this afternoon. The sport was held under ideal conditions. Haughton ami Moran furnished the winner of the fifth race, which attracted the best field on todays card, in Caligula. He disposed of Boosting after rounding the far | turn and retained a safe lead all through the I final eighth. Brownie Smile closed up fast from the roar during the last quarter and easily displaced the fast tiring pacemaker, Boosting, for second honors. After following the pace of Kelman closely to the stretch. Lally drew away to a handy victory during the final eighth of the curtain raiser. An exciting finish came with the running of the second race. Miss Ix-ighton. after racing in second i osition to the stretch, finished courageously and was drawing out from her rivals in the closing strides. Jockey J. Moran rushed Col. Pat into the had in the first eighth of the third and he was never in serious trouble thereafter. Opening up a commanding early lead. Jigger proved to be easily best of th se engaged in the fourth race. Ramble proved the best in the sixth dash and Vanishing Boy in the closing race won handily alter a mild drive-.
