KENTUCKY TURF NOTES | •§ — — ». LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 12. The Johnson stable, now in training at Churchill Downs, will be shipped to Belmont Park next Thursday. Trainer Charlie Hughes worked Canaan for the first time since his recent let up. The colt appeared to be in fine fettle and was given an easy half mile in :57. Hughes also had Duenna, his Oaks candidate out and galloped her three-quarters in 1:18. Dunmore was out for the first time since his arrival and galloped three-eighths. The fastest short work of any horse at either track was witnessed when Mose Cold-blatts Sir Peter, candidate for the Clark Handicap, rattled off five-eighths in 1 :02%. John Randolph arrived from New Orleans with the horses Yorick, Captain Applejack, Lucky Mistake, Greystone, Miles Prior and Black Cyclone. Joe Celeda, a native of New Orleans, arrived with the horses and will apply for a license to ride in Kentucky. George J. Long was among the visitors at the Downs this morning to inspect his horses that are in charge of Dick Brooks. Stalls have been bedded down at Churehill Downs for the stable of J. C. Ferris, which is due to reach here from New Orleans next Friday. The stable includes the Derby candidate Fred Jr. Jockeys J. H. Burke and R. Sharp will accompany the Frederick Johnson stable to Belmont next Thursday and will ride on the Kastern tracks this year.
