At Tijuana One Best Bet — WOOLDRIDGE — In the Eighth Race. The final day of the Tijuana Jockey Clubs long winttr me* ting comes to a conclusion with the ninth running of the Tijuana Futurity as the outstanding attraction. This is a five-eighths dash for two-year-olds and carries a purse of ,500 added. The pick of the juveniles still remaining here have been entered and all indications point to an interesting contest. The La Brae .Stable entry, consisting of Listo and Vittoria appear to have much the best chance at this writing. The Au Revoir Handicap is the secondary feature and this is over the one and one-eighth miles distance. A real good band is to make the issue here and it is quite a relief to see some real horses entered for a change. Woohli idge. which finished second to Handy Mandy in the Tijuana Cup a week ago, is favored to win. The True Blue Claiming Handicap and the Oxnard Handicap round out the rest of the program of eleven races, and it can be said that todays card is much the best in some time. LADY HOSE— JAY ZEE— SMART HORSE. For the winner of the opening race we are selecting LADY ROSE. Taking a line through her four starts here, in which she finished second in three of them, she appears ready for a winning effort and this looks to be a good spot for her to get down in front. JAY ZEE is saboi to shoulder top weight, but a race at his best should land him some part of the purse. The last race of SMART HORSE was a creditable effort and, on that race, is given the call to fill the three-hole. VENTURE— SISTKR JOSELLA— MISSION LAD. Sixteen are entered in the second race, which calls for a race over the mile distance. VENTURE, which turned in an easy win last time out over about the same class of horses as he is meeting here, is given the preference for the winners share of the purse. A repetition of his last race should bring him home a handy winner. SISTER JOSELLA appears the danger. The mare is in her best form and we look for her to make VENTURE race at his best to win. MISSION LAD may be the one to take down the short end of the purse should he show-some of his old-time speed. JANE DIEKKS— BRYNDEAR— LAKE ROCK. The filly JANE DIERKS appears much the best of the band that will hook up in the third race. She has been returned a winner in three of her last five starts, and she has but to show the same kind of speed here to take the measure of this field. BRYNDEAR gets the call for the place money for he is a rather consistent sort of a plater and is generally up fighting it out with the leaders in most of his races. LAKE ROCK should have little trouble in saving the short end of the purse money should she race in her best style. BUCK POND— CANAQUE— SAN CARLOS. A rather well-matched field will try conclusions over the clubhouse course in the fourth number. We are looking for the winner to turn up in BUCK POND. The gelding seems to have found his stride and we doubt if this field will be able to take his measure, should he be in a running mood. CANAQUE may furnish the most opposition. He has finished in the money in all of his last six races and we hardly think he will be among the also rans here. SAN CARLOS may cause the leaders no end of trouble should he get away well. HAWES— PRIVATELY— M. J. McNULTT JR. On his past races. HAWKS has to be given the call over the band of platers that will match strides in the fifth race. He has been knocking at the door recently and, as he is getting weight off over his last race, may be able to prove best in this encounter. PRIVATELY, which won his last race in good style, figures to give HAWES a strong argument for top honors. He may not be able to take the measure of the latter but he should have little trouble in accounting for some part of the purse. The old gelding M. J. McNULTY JR. appears best of the others for the short end of the purse. LIS.TO— VITTORI V— SPOOKY. For the Futurity we are selecting the La Brae Stable entry, consisting of LISTO and VITTORIA, to prove best. The former has won his last four starts, while VITTORIA has only met defeat once to date. Either one of these two should be good enough to win this stake if they race to recent performances. LISTO picked up 120 pounds and won off by himself last time out, so his impost of 118 pounds for this race should not make much difference to him. VITTORIA was beaten by her stablemate last time out, else I he may have shown to better advantage. We look for her to be close up when the finish is reached. SPOOKY ran a fast race in her only start and won quite easily. If that race is a true indication of her present form, the La Brae Stable pair may engage some stiff opposition. BAPTISTE appears to be much the best of the others. SHASTA BULLET— PROCTOR HUG-SERGEANT SETH. SHASTA BULLET has been assigned top weight of 125 pounds in the Oxnard Handicap, to be run as the seventh event, but he carried the same impost last Sunday to a successful conclusion and we can see no good reason why he should not win this purse. PROCTOR HUG finished closest to SHASTA BULLET in their last meeting and we look for him to do the same here. He is carrying the same weight, 104 pounds, and only has to repeat his last effort to prove the chief contender. SERGEANT SETH is getting plenty of weight off his last winning effort and may be heard from. RIP RAP is far from his best form. SHASTA GOLD prefers a longer distance. JUDGE SCHILLING holds an outside chance. WOOLDRIDGE— GRIPPEMINAUD— KENTUCKY BABE. With no Handy Mandy in the race today, WOOLDRIDGE should be able to account for the Au Revoir Handicap. He turned in a most impressive performance in the Tijuana Cup, and only has to race in the same style here to be home in front. GRIPPEMINAUD, which finished many lengths behind Handy Mandy and WOOLDRIDGE in the Tijuana Cup, is expected to show to much better advantage at the lesser distance of this race, a mile and an eighth. KENTUCKY BABE, one of the lightly weighted ones, is tabbed to hold a good chance of collecting some part of the coin. TRUE BOY— TOPSY S.— DOLLY BAY. With weight off for this event and two good races in his last two starts. TRUE BOY appears to hold a winning chance in the mile and a sixteenth of the ninth race. He lost by a nose in his last two starts and is more than due to prove a winner. TOPSY S. only has to repeat her last effort to be the one to finish closest to the winner. She seems to be rounding into her best form and would not surprise a great deal if she defeated TRUE BOY. The latter two rate quite close together. DOLLY BAY is also on the improve and may be good enough to hold the others safe for the short end of the coin. ROCKBOMB— COMPOSER— CURLER. The veteran long distance racer ROCK-BOMB is picked to win the True Blue Claiming Handicap, which comes tenth on the card. He was winner over the two miles and three-eighths distance last Sunday and only has to go in the same manner here, which is an eighth of a mile less. COMPOSER raced in improved form his last time out to finish third to ROCKBOMB and Chiapas and, if he elects to race as well today, may be the one to finish second. CURLER is fairly good over a long distance and may have enough stamina to finish third. TOD SLOAN— NEGOTIATOR— PROSPECT. The final race on the card figures to go the way of TOD SLOAN. The Runnymede gelding has been racing fairly well of late and needs to improve but slightly to be the one to land in front here. NEGOTIATOR was winner of his last start and figures to cause some trouble in this field. PROSPECT has more than paid his way at this course and. if in a running mood today, may get home the winner. He holds an excellent chance of landing some part of the purse. VOSHELL would prove dangerous if he raced back to his last winning effort. RALLIM is not without a chance. The same applies to WATCH THE TIME.
