• . At Bowie One Best Bet — STITCHES — In the Fourth Race. m at a e i f 5 a e s | d t ii J c c g r r i j i j i I | ■ . ; . The cheaper grade of racers are to be seen in action in the majority of the races the Bowie course today, six of the seven events having the claiming clause attached, while the intended feature brings out only a fair band of three-year-olds. This race is called the Ambassador Purse, and is over the five and a half furlongs distance. There are a few good ones entered here and we expect Stitches to prove best. The contention should be offered by Mollie Elizabeth, Skylight, Angry Mood and Poeticule. The others do not call for much. Being a Friday, it is to be expected that the long shots will hold sway. There is hardly a race where the winner can be selected with any degree of confidence, but is only natural with the poor grade of horses entered. TIRADO— REA— CATERPILLAR. The opener is given over to the two-year-olds, which are asked to race over the half mile distance. On his last winning effort, VIRADO, the Nevada Stock Farm racer, is given the call. He put up a game performance in his last start, and only has to go in the same manner today to prove a repeater. REA, another winner of her last start, figures as the most probable danger. CATERPILLAR earns the preference over the others for the short end of the coin on her showing in her only start. CARE FREE— LONG POINT— BODV GUARD. The veteran CARE FREE should prove best in the second offering, providing he is in a running mood. He is a temperamental one however, and it is hard to figure him. He is capable of beating this sort of company if he takes a notion to show best speed. LONG POINT was a frequent winner at Oriental Park. and. even though he is to pack considerable weight for him today, we believe he will be close up when tiie finish is reached. BODY GUARD rates easily best of the others. The latter would not surprise a great deal by winning himself. UNLADYLIKE— RULE BRITTANIA — JUNIE. A real cheap band of maidens from the older division are to make the running in the third race over the one mile and seventy yards distance. Basing on previous races, UNLADYLIKE seems to be the most probable winner. She turned in a few good races at the New Orleans tracks and only has to put forth her best efforts to be the one to graduate today. RULE BRITTANIA was gradually getting into best racing trim when she left Jefferson Park and if she has retained her good form she may be able to land secend money. JUNIE is as good as another for third. •STITCHES— SKY I.Hi HT— MOLLIE ELIZABETH. If there is such a thing as a one best bet, it may be STITCHES in the Ambassador Purse. The Bryson filly meed like a good one as a two-year-old and she has been training satisfactorily enough to warrant the belief that she will win at the fist asking this year. SKYLIGHT was able to graduate from the maiden ranks in her last start and if she elects to race in the same manner today, she may give BTITCHJC8 plenty of argument. MOLLIE ELIZABETH is still a maiden, but soon due to win. Her two races here to date have both been good ones and we look for her to out some figure in this race. CLIQUE— KOW-MK.]SOMI- HUFFLES. There is really little to chose from among those entered for the fifth number, a test over the one and one-sixteenth miles distance. On best races CLIQUE appears to held a slight edge, but he has been such a long time in winning a race that too much should not be expected of him today. He can beat this kind when fit. KNOW-ME-GNOME put up a poor performance in his first start here, but is capable of doing much better. He should land some part of this purse if he races in his best style. FLUFFY RUFFLES may be good enough to take down some part of the purse. EVERGLADE— AL KRIPP— rOW DF.R. We favor EVERGLADE to win the sixth offering, over the mile and a sixteenth distance. The W. A. Rosen gelding was entered yesterday and how he fared is not known at this writing. At any rate, he sf-ms to be the best of those entered for this tilt and should ke the one to land in front. AL KRIPP is on the improve and may have enough speed to land second money in this field. POWDER is a long shot possibility with a ehaaec of upsetting the figures. The others do not appear to have much chance. ROBERT MANDEL— ED PENDLETON— MONS MEG. ROBERT MANDEL has been racing quite well of late and the good night tilt looks like a favorable spot for him to get home winner. He has beat company as good as he meets today and he only has to show his best speed to come down in front. ED PENDLETON rates as the most probable contenter. He has showed well in his two races here and he wouldnt surprise a great deal if he handed ROBERT MANDEL a trimming. They rate close together in the figures. MONS MEG has a good chance of collecting some part of the purse.
