LEXIXGTOX, Ky., April 12. -According to communication received by Thomas Scott, general manager of the Kentucky Association, from W. S. Jarvis, designer and builder the Jarvis starting gate, the gate which is be tried out during the coming local meeting, will be delivered here next Wednesday. The device, according to Mr. Jarvis message, will be shipped from Fort Worth, Texas, Saturday. Schooling of horses to the device will begin the following day and, while the time, before the opening of the meeting, is very limited for such work, plans for the initial test of the .machine on April 21, the opening day of the meeting, have not bfei altered. It is understood that Mr. Jarvis will be here to supervise the assembling of the gate and to oversee the schooling as well as actual use of the device. Col. If. J. Winn, managing director of the American Turf Association, is expected to be visitor on the opening day for the purpose of witnessing the gate tryout. If the machine proves practical during the local meeting it probably will see service at Churchill Downs, Latonia. Lincoln Fields and other tracks under Colonel Winns direction. , — _ — *
