• I At Havre de Grace One Best Bet — EDISTO — In the Fifth Race. of j; ft t " r ll of j b u to o Z v ■ d ■ S1 g a t ci • g E s, fc o of i; is f in I l to to | f o l i ° , ■ J ■ j . The Bcverwyek Purse brings the best field the day to the post in todays feature at Havre de Grace. It is an allowance race for four-year-olds and over, at one and one-sixteenth miles. Seven were entered in the overnight entries, with the Seagram Stables Edisto appearing much the best of the field. He was a trifle short in his first start of the year, but we look for him to turn in one his good races today. That last effort should have done him a world of good. The Hare Wood Purse will be run in two divisions, eight being entered in the first division and nine in the other. Both races bring well matched fields of three-year-olds the post and both contests call for sprints over the three-quarters distance. VOYAGE— YALLER GAL— RHAPSODY The opening number calls for maiden juveniles to race over the four and one-half furlongs distance, and we look for the Nevada Stock Farm Stable to supply the winner. VOYAGE has not raced since his arrival from Tijuana and the rest should have done Hm some good. He has been showing good speed in his morning trials and he seems ready for a winning effort. TALLER GAL w«s a bit short in her last two starts and with some improvement today may have enough speed to get up for second money. RHAPSODY ANN, after displaying good qualities in her first start, showed a dull effort in her only race hare. Considering that she can do better we look for her to get the short end of the purse at least. BLANDRIS will only have to race back to her best form, which she showed at Jefferson Park, to prove a tough contender. SINGLE STAR— GRACIOUS GIFT— MOOTS. SINGLE STARS recent good second behind Sunsard earns her the call of those which match strides in the second affair, a dash five and a half furlongs. Although she picking up ten and one-half pounds, we think she is still good enough to beat this field. GRACIOUS GIFT showed a dull effort his last start but, when he is in a running mood, is a hard horse to beat. He gets a good cut in the weights, and it seems that he will be the one SINGLE STAR will have dispose of to win. DIGNUS won her last race in a runaway fashion, and a race back that effort should put her up among the first three at the finish. STITCHES will bear watching. MOLLIE ELIZABETH— ANGRY MOOD— STEEALLY. Eight of the better grade of three-year-olds make up the field in the firs, division of the Hare Wood Purse, which will be run under allowance conditions. MOLLIE ELIZABETH seems to have a slight edge over her opponents, as she is getting nine pounds off her previous start, in which she was just beaten. She has plenty of speed and, with a good start, should prove the winner today. ANGRY MOOD is also getting in with light weight and may be the one the above-mentioned will have to beat. STE-FALLY has shown that she can run with the best of them and should not be overlooked. Although she has been away from the races for some time, her morning trials indicate she will be ready at the first asking. APPLE PIE ran a fine race last time out and may cause some trouble. TUSKEGEE— BOBASHELA— HIGH HOPE. The second division of the Hare Wood Purse will be run as the fourth offering, with the same conditions prevailing us the third event. Max Hindi has TUSKEGEE trained down to a point where he is ready to show a winning effort. He ran against some of the best two-year-olds last year and, although he did not win so often, he made a worthy showing. We think the field today is not so good as he has been traveling with and he may have speed enough to lead them home. BOBASHELA may run one of her gcod races today to earn second place. HIGH HOPE showed a return to her best form in her last start and, with a little better effort today, should annex the short end of the purse. GIFT HAWK looks like the dark one and may surprise. EDISTO— AFTERGLOW— COM ET. The feature of thj afternoons program is carded as the Beverwyck Purse, which brings out a field of seven good handicap horsts. EDISTO seems well suited to the distance of one mile and a sixteenth and, under light weight, looks to be the logical selection. He was a bit short in his first start last Tuesday and, with some improvement, should get out in front and lead his field all the way. AFTERGLOWS last effort was not his best and should not be taken into consideration. With a return to his best form he should have no trouble in landing second place. COMET seems to be an in-and-outer, but, should he show a flash of his best speed, should land among the leaders at the finish. VELLAS may be the surprise of the field. THE FRESHMAN has a chance to get some part of the purse. BLUE FLAG— FIRE FAIRY— ASTER. The plater BLUE FLAG may be the one to prove best in the sixth race. His last two races were bang-up seconds and, on the form he showed in those races, has to be given the call in this tilt. FIRE FAIRY figures as the most probable contender. She raced well behind Lucie Ann in her first start here and, though she is picking up weight over that race, we look for her to prove dangerous. ASTER is due for one of his good races and, with his light impost today, -ve look for him to be up fighting it out with the leaders. MERIDA, on her Havana races, has to be given an outside chance for some part of the purse. DAFFODIL— GRAND BEY— KAN Dl IT. The concluding race of the day brings a good band of platers to the jwst, with DAFFODIL getting the call. She won her first race here in such easy fashion that we look for her to prove a repeater. She is asked to carry a little more weight today over her last race, but we hardly think this .ill stop her from winning. GRAND BEY is a consistent sort of a gelding, and he is found up with the leaders in most of his races. We look for him to make DAFFODIL race in her best style to be home the winner. KANDUIT may be able to take down the short end of the purse.
