PREPARED AT AURORA Finishing Touches Being Given Exposition Park Many Improvements Made Since SinceLast Last Meeting Six Hundred HundredFifty Fifty Horses on Grounds AURORA 111 April 29 With constant ar ¬ rivals and bustle to hasten the finishing touches that will put the racing machinery in perfect order for the opening Wednesday Auroras Exposition Park track was a scene of activity Monday from early morning un ¬ til twilight twilightThe The secretarys forces were hard pressed taking care of detail matters and the issu ¬ ance of badges to owners trainers and jockeys Generalmanager Cliff Trimble was particularly busy looking after the minor details while track superintendent Smith had his big force of workers putting the racing strip in perfect condition and Dick Jones in charge of the mutuel department was put hard at it preparing to handle a big volume of play expected for opening day dayThe The numerous improvements installed at the course since last spring has brought the Exposition track up to standard where it compares favorably with most of the oth r courses and Chicagoans will be able to wit ¬ ness some pleasing preliminary sport prior to the real racing that will come with the open ¬ ing of the more accepted Chicago tracks following the 22days meeting to be held at Aurora AuroraAlthough Although not pretending to the class that will be observed at the larger tracks in the immediate Chicago district Aurora will not be short of good racers for its Inaugural Handicap Wednesday and for the overnight handicaps which are to follow Secretary Charles F Henry said Monday he was highly gratified at the number of good horses en the ground and not all of the good ones that are to take part in the meeting have arrived At present 650 horses are quartered at Expo ¬ sition Park ParkOLD OLD FAVORITES FAVORITESRacing Racing fans will readily recognize these Jack Alexander Taddywawa Andromeda Galahad War Buddy Wacker Drive Short Price Orestes II Col Board Runaway to send his Gala ¬ had back into competition in very short or ¬ der and it was thought he might be a starter in Wednesdays Inaugural Galahad was among the best that started at New Orleans last fall but he was raced very little during the winter although he was eligible for some of the larger stakes He has been in light training at Aurora where Reuter has had most of his large string ever since the close of Jefferson Park ParkFORMIDABLE FORMIDABLE STABLE STABLEReuter Reuter promises to cut a big figure in Aurora races just as he did at New Orleans In addition to Galahad as a handicap horse he will have the threeyearold Roy Gibson Roy Gibson was one of the winter sensations of a year ago as a juvenile He made his first start of this year at Lexington last week Reuter has two of the most consistent platers on the track in Gotham and Copper shine Jockey Elmer Shropshire will ride Routers horses horsesThe The Tijuana representation at Exposition Park is stronger than ever before headed by the picturesque C B Irwin with eighteen R Pollard brought up a good string and he has with him jockey Parmalee who had the mount on Golden Prince when that horse won the Coffroth Handicap string stabled there W R Armstrong has eleven there for the Lyda Mae Stock Farm Louis Weiss has twelve for the Dearborn Stable Judge C W Hay has five on the track trackThe The Aurora plant has undergone improve ¬ ments and is in good shape for the opening Racing there should have a strong appeal to Chicagoans for the ride to Aurora takes lit ¬ tle more time than that consumed in going to one of the local tracks The beautiful setting of Exposition Park has its attrac ¬ tions on a spring or summer day and it should be at its best Wednesday if there is not another break in the weather weatherGeneral General manager Clifford R Trimble is very optimistic believing this will be the best meeting Aurora has ever had and his en ¬ thusiasm is shared by the stewards and other officials Most of these officials are racing men of long standing and high repute reputeAll All the officials who will serve are at the course
