BOURBON SURPRISE WINNER Slow Track Results in Cancella ¬ tion of Lexington Feature Kentucky Association Entertains One of the theLargest Largest OffDay Crowds In InHistory History of Track LEXINGTON Ky April 29 The Ken ¬ tucky Association this afternoon entertained one of the largest offday attendances ever admitted to the grounds The crowd wit ¬ nessed the running of the most ordinary pro ¬ gram of the meeting over a slow track the result of showers yesterday and this was responsible for the cancellation of the original feature and in its place a race for the cheaper grade platers was substituted This was decided over one mile and seventy yards and run as the fifth race It was productive of a surprise when H B Reethers Bourbon at better than 25 to 1 was returned the win ¬ ner by a head over Hesitation HesitationPrevious Previous to the running of the substitute race there was a feature in the double vic ¬ tory for the H P Headley colors carried to victory by Bossie in the opening race and again by the twoyearold Supryse in the fourth race Supryse a big favorite and second of the afternoon to win scored over nine other youngsters that were brought to ¬ gether under claiming conditions over four and a half furlongs She raced from behind La Golondrina and Gotta Gonow in the stretch and beat the latter by a head La Golondrina which headed the field almost throughout tired and swerved badly in the final drive and was unplaced third went to Rose Jar This made eleven victories for the H P Headley colors colorsIn In his surprise victory under the veteran G Collins Bourbon got up in the final stages to drop his head in front of Hesita ¬ tion the favored starter of G Collins and thus forced the latters colors into second place for the sixth time during the meeting meetingThey They fought it out all through the stretch and finished in advance of Pendleton which wore down Noble Wrack for third place placeCool Cool springlike weather was the order and while the offering was lacking in quality it offered numerous close finishes and thus made up for the absence of quality qualityAfter After being second in the third and fifth races the colors of George Collins were car Continued on eleventh page
