CABEZO IN DERBY TRIAL . AGUA CALIENTE, Mexico, Feb. 13. The Pasadena-Anderson-Lee entry appears to hold a strong hand in the Derby Trial, which will be decided at Agua Caliente Sunday. In this combination are Cabezo, the sterling son of Carlaris, which wHl be making his western debut; Joe Flores, double stake winner here, and Burton Agnes, winner of the Agua Caliente Oaks. Others to go are Sharp Thoughts, John Bane, Durango, Gallineta, Daily News and Altmark. The distance is seven furlongs, and the purse ,500 added. Sharp Thoughts is top weight, with -123 pounds, while Joe Flores carries 122. Aside from the Derby Trial, which had its initial running last season when it was won by Schooner, will be the Coronado Town Plate, for lady jockeys exclusively. This unique event, an annual fixture below the border, has attracted a limit field of fifteen. Some of the greatest lady riders in the West will take part, including Miss Ardath Schneider, of Long Beach, who has twice steered winners of the event, and Miss Vera McGinnis, who was successful once. The distance is six furlongs. It was announced today that a steeplechase race for lady riders would be held in the near future. Many society ladies from Coronado and Del Monte are expected to take part.
