PHAR LAFS JOCKEY ARRIVES 1Hill Elliott Reaches San Francisco After Trip From Sydney V Light Weight Rider. X BAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Feb. 13. Bill Elliott, one of the leading jockeys of Australia, was in San Francisco today, having arrived yesterday by steamer from Sydney. He came expressly to ride Phar Lap in his races at Agua Caliente, and, possibly, throughout the "Red Terrors" American campaign, should the latter be extended a development which depends entirely upon success at the Mexican course. Young Elliott, who tips the beam at 102 pounds, has, on six occasions, had the mount on Phar Lap when he was winner. Jockey J. Pike, a hoary veteran of the saddle, rode the great horse in practically all his other winning races. Elliott, because of his light weight, will have much dead weight in his saddle bags when he pilots the high weight Phar Lap in the 0,000 Agua Caliente Handicap. The Australian jockey will remain in San Francisco two or three days as the guest of his employer, David J. Davis, owner of Phar Lap, and will then proceed to Agua Caliente, where he will seek a few outside mounts in order that he may become acquainted with American jockey methods.
