PHAR LAPS ENTRIES HERE Nominations for Three 0,000 Added Arlington Fixtures Duly Received. The nomination of the great Australian horse Phar Lap for the Arlington Handicap, Arlington Gold Cup and Stars and Stripes Handicap, each a 0,000 added feature, has been received by the Arlington Park Jockey Club, according to the announcement of president Otto W. Lehmann. Thus the possibility of Chicagoans witnessing an international contest at Arlington Park in July, as pointed out recently in Daily Racing Form, appears to be exceedingly bright. There is every prospect of seeing the invader from "Down Under" dashing with such outstanding American thoroughbreds as Twenty Grand, Mate, Sweep All Equipoise, Pitts-burgher, Pilate, White Clover, Lady Broadcast, Dark Sea and others. Nominations to the important Arlington fixtures, which close March 15, have been coming in steadily to the offices of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, and they indicate fields of the highest caliber. Phar Laps entry to the three Arlington races, two of which are at one mile and a quarter and the other at one mile and an eighth, means that the Australian champion, winner of 82,700 and thirty-six out of fifty starts in four seasons of racing, will come to Chicago after he completes his engagement at Agua Caliente. Should Phar Lap clash with Twenty Grand or Mate in any of the three Arlington fixtures, the Australian champion will meet the two colts which dominated the three-year-old situation in America last season, Twenty Grand being victorious in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes and Mate in the Classic at Arlington Park, Preakness Stakes and American Derby. Twenty Grand and Mate will continue their feud, which they started in Maryland in the fall of 1930 and were unable to settle last year, at Arlington Park in July, whether Phar Lap joins in their battle or not. Major Louis A. Beard, manager of the Greentree Stable, announced some time ago that Twenty Grand would be pointed for his engagements at Chicagos beautiful northside course, while A. C. Bost-wick, wealthy young eastern sportsman, has just sent in Mates nomination to the three Arlington distance attractions.
