. I LOUISVILLE TURF NOTES Cold Check and Depression, both eligible to the Derby, were worked late Friday afternoon at the Downs over a heavy track for five furlongs by trainer , Crump. Cold Check was well in hand all the way, being timed for the first quarter in :254, half in :5A and five-eighths in 1:10. Oscillation, owned by the Longridge Stable, showed a six furlongs work in preparation for the Derby of 1:22. Dr. W. J. Youngs mare, Irene T., was shipped to Churchill Downs from the farm of Thomas Taggart at French Lick Springs. Jockey J. Majestic stopped over in Louisville on his way to Maryland from New Orleans, where he expects to ride during the Bowie meeting. Governor Laffoon stands pat on his appointees to the Kentucky State Racing Commission, having failed to date to send in names to replace Theodore E. Mueller of Louisville and Frazier D. Lebus of Cyn-thiana, both Republican members of the board.
