PENSWEEP. at home in the coing and away fast, was outrun for the first eighth, then went to the outside and. closing well under punishment, wore down the pacemakers midway of the stretch and drew clear. HAPPY HOPES, close up from the start, held on well. ROMPRIOGE showed good speed for half a mile, then tired. TRICKYS SON showed a good performance. FAIRBROOM raced wide most of the way. FLAMBOROUGH eased back sliehtly on the turn, came through on the inside in the stretch and, closing resolutely, was up to win in the closing sixteenth. LADY CHASE, hard urged on the outside of the others, took a brief lead near the closine eighth, but was unable to withstand the winner. JOHN DAVENPORT, a factor from the start, tired steadily under punishment. TOY TOWN and GAMMA DELTA raced themselves into early submission. NEW SUN, slow to start, closed fast in the stretch. GOLADER raced MISS GORMLEY into early defeat, drew clear in the stretch, but tired in the closing eighth. PANDORUS held on well. MISS GORMLEY forced a steady pace for five eighths. PELORUS finished gamely. DAN McCRIMMON could not reach the leaders. FATAL GIFT tired after going half a mile. WESTY JUNIOR, hurried to the front, showed good speed, shook off HEY THRERE, but could not ieep pace with the winner when challenged. SOLACE worked his way up steadily, went to the outside on he stretch turn and finished gamely. HEY THERE was used up in the first five eighths. SISTER ZOE aced well placed, but was not good enough.
