Close relatives of famous American thoroughbreds of recent years, as well as of the present time, -are among the 119 juvenile colts and fillies remaining eligible for the first Arlington Futurity; which had its final closing May 16. The list of entries show Willis Sharpe Kilmer, of Binghamton, N. Y., the leading nominator with nine, just one more than was kept eligible for the 5,000 added attraction by William R. Coe, of New York. Chief among Mr. Kilmers candidates is Sun Alley, a dark chestnut colt from Sallys Alley, which back in 1922 was the first two-year-old of any sex to score a double in the Futurity at Belmont Park and the Pimlico Futurity, and to produce Sun Alley she was mated with Sun Briar, sire of Sun Beau, Pompey and other famous horses. Sun. Archer, by Sun Briar from Hawkshead and therefore a half-brother to Gift Hawk, is another well-bred nominee in the Kilmer stable. Audley Farms six candidates include Knights Gal, a sister to Gallant Knight, which has been well known in Chicago racing for two seasons, while the Belair Studs Jovius is a brother to Risque, whose triumphs at Arlington Park in 1930 and 1931 included the Lassie Stakes and Arlington Matron Handicap. Among Edward R. Brad- lejrs quartet of Futurity nominees are Back-step, a brother to Misstep, first winner of the Arlington Handicap; Buddys Brother, brother to Buddy Bauerj which won the Cherry Circle Claiming Stakes at Arlington, also the Fairmount Derby, and Boilermaker, a half-brother to the Latonia Derby winner, Broadway Jones. The lone eligible of Horace N. Davis is Miria Over, a sister to the Kentucky Derby-Preakness victor, Burgoo King, while among the eight Coe candidates are Orphean, brother to Caruso, and Sunny Queen, sister to Pompey and Laughing Queen. The Greentree Stables six takes in Welcome Gift, half-sister to Twenty Grand, and TJp-percut, half -brother; to Parry. Surety, a haif-brother to the famous "iron" horse, Display, is one of Walter J. Salmons leading Futurity "hopefuls, while James W. Parrish is banking his hopes on Isaiah, a half-brother to Rolled Stocking. In A. -C. Schwartz trio- of entries is Tickory Tock, Tick Ons little sister, while chief among M. L. Schwartz five eligibles is Union, half-brother of Clock Tower. Mrs. Louis G. Kaufman also has entered her unnamed filly by Bubbling Over from Kippy, the dam of On Post and Sortie. Clyde Van Dusen is represented by Ted Clark, a half-brother tor his namesake winner of the Kentucky Derby, which he recently purchased from Herbert P. Gardner. Among t e six eligibles owned by C. V. Whitney is Pooks Hill, sister to-Boojum, and Caterwaul, outstanding juvenile development of the current year. The chief among four entries in Mrs. John Hay Whitneys stable appears to be Crowning Glory, a half-brother to Pairbypair, which won the Hyde Park Stakes at Arlington Park last summer. " At least a score of starters are likely for the Futurity, and the gross value with a field of twenty will amount to 6,105, of which all but 5,000 will go to the winner. The winning share will increase or decrease ,000 for each horse above or below twenty, but nevertheless the Futurity will be the most valuable attraction for American juveniles ever offered outside of New York and Maryland. -
