CHARLEY 0. WORKS WELL HOMEWOOD, 111., May 22.— Charley O., the Strathmore Stables American Derby threat, was favored by fast footing for his mile trial this morning. Under strong restraint throughout the son of Hourless and Clonakilty went in 1:44. It was the first conditioner at that distance since the Kentucky Derby in which he finished third.
