KALAfflAZOO TRACK READY NineteenDay Meeting to Begin Sat ¬ urday at Greatly Renovated Recreation Park KALAMAZOO Mich May 21 Recrea ¬ tion Park which will be used by the Kala mazoo Racing Association for the nineteen days race meeting opening Saturday May 26 has been greatly improved since the days of the harness horse The track which was of a pasteboard nature has been cut up and a top dressing of two and a half inches of soil has been added The turns have been widened and a threequarters chute built It is a regulation mile track eighty feet wide with well banked turns The grandstand has been practically rebuilt Three hundred new stalls have been built in addition to the 150 wellbuilt stalls used by the trotters of other years yearsA A new paddock located between the grand ¬ stand and clubhouse has been erected with the racing secretarys office adjoining in which a first aid hospital and jockeys room have been located The new clubhouse last to be completed is located at the finishing wire The press stand is located in this building The clubhouse has accommodations for 200 for which fiftv reservations have een applied for at present Thirty boxes have been installed for the members Mutuel windows for sellers and cashiers have been installed under the grandstand mezzanine floor and clubhouse clubhouseGeneral General manager A E Swanson and direc ¬ tor of racing Ben Hagedorn have spent up ¬ ward of 30000 in the many improvements and buildings The patrons who attend the meeting of the Running Horse the first ever held in Kalamazoo will see a re ¬ vamped Recreation Park ParkThe The official family is on the ground Tim M Murphy racing secretary and presiding steward Noah McClelland clerk of the scales and associate judge John Kissane entry clerk and associate judge H M Mc Cloud starter Charles Zoeller paddock judge and timer Harry Lunsford assistant clerk of the scales Albert H Melcher will be in charge of the parimutuels parimutuelsBen Ben Hagedorn director of racing has been on the job day and night to get the plant into perfect shape and has again accom ¬ plished the task of remodeling an obsolete track into a complete racing unit in a very short time
