INCREASE BELMONT PURSES NEW YORK N Y May 21 Joseph H Widener announced after the running of the steeplechase that effective tomorrow no purse at the meeting will be less than 900 These purses will be for claiming races Condition races handicaps and other higher races will carry 1000 purses while on off days when no stake is down for decision a handicap for 1200 will be offered
