DAUBER BIG DISAPPOINTMENT Whitney Colt Begins So Slowly as to Have No Chance New York Crowd Shows Displeasure at De ¬ feat of Favorite Transmitter Wins Juvenile Trial NEW YORK N Y May 21 Joseph E Wideners Transmitter an unsexed son of Sickle and Zephyretta that wintered in Florida showed a degree of eligibility for the Juvenile Stakes at Belmont Park today when he was winner of a four and a half furlongs dash that engaged five other can ¬ didates for the prize The big disappoint ¬ ment of the race was C V Whitneys Dauber which was also beaten for the place by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilts Indian Lodge There was an excellent excuse for Dauber when he was away from the post so slowly as to virtually have no reasonable chance for victory victoryWith With a return of bright sunshine and seasonable weather conditions were delight ¬ ful for the sport and a big crowd was out outThe The juvenile race attracted most attention because of the fact six of the seven are in the Juvenile and it was an excellent trial for that stake Dauber on the strength of his recent good victory was one of the short ¬ est priced favorites of the afternoon and when he got away badly and was beaten there were some catcalls as Workman rode him back to the scales DELAYS THE STAKT STAKTShow Show Up caused some delay at the start by reason of his bad actions and while the field got away in good alignment Dauber was off so slowly that he was soon lengths back and before Workman could rouse him he had no winning chance Indian Lodge was the one to show the way but Trans ¬ mitter went after him closely and in the final drive the Widener gelding proved the gamest to win going away by a head They were four lengths before Dauber which had gained ground in the final furlong He in turn was three lengths before Credence the only one not eligible for the Juvenile when he was third
