TOPWAY RETAINS GOOD FORM Runs Another Good Race to Score at atMount Mount Royal Track Fast Fastbut but Slightly Dull MONTREAL Que July 17 E D Slavins Topway winner of his last start and which has yet to run a bad race here this season added the Vercheres Purse to his list chief offering at Mount Royal this afternoon Ex ¬ pertly handled by apprentice F Scott the winner came home a full length before Mrs MrsE E outgamedF B Shipps General Boy which outgamed F Nelsons Ahriman by three parts of a length to take care of the place award Lord Dean was a fairly close fourth finishing a scant head in front of Live One which was made a strong choice by reason of three straight scores at Kings Park The latter flattered his many backers until midway in the home stretch where he flattened out badly while under strong restraint Topway paid almost 6 to 1 and ran the route in 149 149With With much better weather prevailing than on Saturday the second days racing of the Back River Jockey Club meeting attracted a fine gathering for a Monday with the public choice making good in a majority of the events Although the track was termed fast it was a little on the dead side from weekend showers
