FAIRMOUNTPARKMEETINGGETSUNDERWAYTODAY TWENTYSEVEN DAYS RACING SCHEDULED SCHEDULEDFuture Future Winning lops Field of Twelve in Main Attraction Anticipate Excellent Session SessionCOLLINSVILLE COLLINSVILLE 111 May 29 The Fair mount Park Jockey Club operators of beau ¬ tiful Failmount Park throws opens its gates tomorrow for twentyseven days of racing with the Memorial Day Handicap featuring the eightrace program The meeting which terminates Saturday July 5 will again be without racing on Mondays Special per ¬ mission has been granted the local organ ¬ ization by the Illinois Racing Commission to have the local track dark on Mondays MondaysWith With nearly 700 horses in quarters at Fair mount Park and with several hundred others stabled in private barns in the vicinity of the track racing secretary R A Leigh Jr should experience little difficulty in drawing up his daily programs There are more handicap horses on the grounds this spring than at any time since the reorganization of the track four years ago and Leigh is reasonably sure he will be able to card handicaps on Wednesdays and Saturdays through the meeting meetingTwoyearolds Twoyearolds are numerous and many in ¬ teresting contests to be given by the juve ¬ niles who meet in allowance races The youngsters have always proved popular at the local racing plant and Leigh has many fine twoyearolds to fill his allowances as well as claiming events More than 100 have been registered with Leigh and the young racing official hopes to have several allow ¬ ance races a week for the juveniles juvenilesOn On the strengtli of reports from other tracks which have enjoyed successful meet ¬ ings this year Burnett feels the Fairmount Park Jockey Club will experience the best meeting since he took over the management Many defense projects in this region espe ¬ cially in St Louis will no doubt increase the play at Fairmount Park and Burnett has made plans to take care of the largest throng of racing fans in the history of the track Because of the better grade of horses more interest than ever is shown by local people and the management expects the largest daily crowds in many years to take in the sport at the Madison County course courseFUTURE FUTURE WINNINGS FAST TRIAL TRIALTwelve Twelve of the best sprinters here were named for the Memorial Day Handicap and given the post of honor was A H Sumerlins good fouryearold Future Winning On the strength of his successes this year and a sterling workout yesterday morning the son of Blue Blitzen was assigned 117 pounds for his engagement in which he will probably be made favorite The Sumerlin colorbearer turned in the fastest five furlongs ever re ¬ corded in a morning trial or a race here yes ¬ terday when he went fiveeighths with jockey William Armstrong in the saddle in 59 The performance shaded the track mark made sixteen years ago by Candy Queen by twofifths of a second Next in weight is Fred Seroys Three Bangs who is asked to pack 112 pounds while Keefe and Kings filly Swift Light and F E Waldrons Lazarus are in at equal weights of 110 pounds each Royal Blue who flaunts the silks of C W Pershall of Granite City 111 is next in line with 109 and Antonio Ruiz Juanita a filly bred in Chile and coming here with a fine record made in Cuba this past winter got in at 108 pounds F Campagnas Doublrab is in at 107 pounds while Bid Up a maiden from the stable of Ed Rachal is asked to carry 106 Equally weighted for the six furlongs event are the Montell Farms Briery Mid ¬ air from the Le Mar Stock Farm Stable and Miss M Hodges Half Time each assigned 105 pounds The light weight of the field is J C Humes threeyearold Doubtful in at 101 pounds poundsSupporting Supporting the feature is the fifth race a five and a half furlong allowance event for threeyearolds and the fourth race another allowance affair for twoyearolds at four and a half furlongs In all there will be four sprints including the feature and a like number of distance events
