STROUBE HAS FAITH IN Master of Melody Meadows Farm Pins Hope on Sirasia and Bien Fait Choice Matrons in Barns BarnsCORSICANA CORSICANA Texas June 7 W C Slroube Corsicana oil man and sportsman has the stallions Sirasia and Bien Fait and a small group of nine brood mares at his Melody Meadows thoroughbred nursery What the group lacks in quantity is more than offset in quality Firmly convinced that the Texas climate soil water and pas ¬ turageis ideally suited for the production of thoroughbreds bcroube founded Melody Meadows in 1935 and expended over 200000 in making it a model thoroughbred farm farmI I entered the thoroughbred field because I believed that horse breeding would ulti ¬ mately become one of the major industries of Texas Stroube declared and I still be ¬ lieve it even though racing has been legis ¬ lated out of the state Some day racing will come back and when it does Texas horses will go on to truly great things on the turf turfWhen When Stroube founded Melody Meadows he went into the thoroughbred markets and the Saratoga yearling sales to buy the very best blood obtainable How astute a student of blood lines he is can best be illustrated by the success his colors have achieved on the turf The stallions Sirasia and Bien Fait which head his haras were both pur ¬ chases Sirasia at the Saratoga sales as a yearling and Bien Fait from Col E R Brad ¬ ley along with a number of other horses horsesSIRASIA SIRASIA BACK RACING RACINGSirasia Sirasia a son of Sir Gallahad III Anas tasia by Wrack was bred to several mares in the spring of 1940 then was put back to racing Last winter he firmly established himself as one of the countrys best in the handicap division After reaching top form he was beaten only a head by Joe Schenck in the Tropical Park Handicap He now has several 1941 foals at Melody Meadows MeadowsBien Bien Fait a son of the illfated Bubbling Over out of the imported mare Bon Voyage by Friar Marcus one of the top brood mare sires of England for many years was one of the best threeyearolds of his year win ning several stakes and establishing a track record at Detroit for nine furlongs that still stands Bien Fait was a horse of great speed and like his sire he could carry that speed over a distance of ground His Detroit record of 150 for the mile and an eighth wasnt approached at the 1940 meetings in the Motor City CityBien Bien Fails sire Bubbling Over a Ken ¬ tucky Derby winner was never out of the money in thirteen starts and seemed well on the way to a brilliant stud career But he died after siring only a few crops of foals However he sired a Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner in Burgoo King also a successful sire and other fine stakes win ¬ ners in Boys Howdy Bubblesome Boiling Point Biologist Bright Bubble and others There is every reason to believe that Bien Fait will be a singularly successful stallion stallionFROM FROM PETEEWRACKS SISTER SISTEROn On blood lines alone Sirasia looms as one of the best stallions to stand in Texas His sire Sir Gallahad III is too well known to need any words said about him His dam Anastasia is a sister to PeteeWrack win ¬ ner of 98990 in such stakes as the Travers Metropolitan Suburban Philadelphia Mer ¬ chants and Citizens Baltimore and others In stud PeteeWuack has sired Columbiana credited with the fastest mile and a quarter ever run by a filly 201 in winning the Widener Cup Sir Emerson Red Eye Loveday Red Label Peon and numerous others othersAnastasia Anastasia is a daughter of the worlds greatest brood mare Marguerite by Celt whose offspring have won nearly 600000 to date Marguerites foals include the great Gallant Fox and his brothers Fighting Fox and Foxbrough the latter champion two yearold in England in 1938 and top weight of the Free Handicap HandicapWith
