CALIFORNIA BOARD POSTPONES HEARING ON STIMULATION STIMULATIONCooper Cooper Making Tests of Effect of Caffeine on Horses at Farm FarmLOS LOS ANGELES Calif June 23 Todays meeting of the California Horse Racing Board called for the purpose of investigat ¬ ing the alleged use of caffeine on nine horses at Hollywood Park was postponed until July 7 by chairman Jerry Geisler after a short session The postponement was made due to the fact that tests of the effect of caffeine as a stimulant will be made on six horses at the Rancho San Luis Rey of Charles E Cooper a member of the board and wellknown California breeder Lawyers representing prominent owners asked the board many questions and during this ques ¬ tioning it was brought out that the urine from which the tests were made is no longer in evidence and all the chemists now have are photographs of the specimens specimensThomas Thomas F Kilmartin member of the com ¬ mission addressed those in the packed room and pointed out that the owners of the nine horses involved were racing under a cloud and moved that owners and trainers of these horses be completely exonerated of any con ¬ nection with alleged stimulation Charles E Cooper opposed the motion on the ground that the t board could not exonerate these men at this time and the complete testimony would have to be heard at the meeting on July 7 Chairman Geisler was in accord with Cooper and in opposing Kilmartin empha ¬ sized that the board was eager to complete the hearing with justice and fair play to everyone involved involvedLegal Legal representatives of the nine owners involved endeavored to draw from chairman Geisler his Opinion and that of other board members as to whether or hot a stimulant has actually been given these horses The commissioner not only refused to answer but stressed that no statements would be given out between now and the day of the hearing
