Favor Breeders Awards On Percentage Basis Thoroughbred Club Seeks Bonus On Other Than Claiming Races RacesLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky May 24 Directors of the Thoroughbred Club of America at their last meeting went on record as favor ¬ ing breeders awards on a percentage basis and that these awards apply to races other than claiming The club also advocated the keeping of present purse levels with revision upward whenever possible The suggestions will be forwarded to Arlington and Washington Park officials in Chicago by Warren Wright owner of Calumet Farm FarmSince Since the breeders awards applying to all classes of races have been introduced in New York similar action is deemed pos ¬ sible at all other tracks The ckibs objec ¬ tion to the New York plan of awarding 25 to the breeder of the Winning horse and 15 to the breeder of the horse finish ¬ ing second is that the awards apply to all races and make no recognition of the class of competition competitionWith With the awards being made on a per ¬ centage basis the maintenance of present purse levels and increases whenever pos ¬ sible would also work to the advantage of thoroughbred owners and breeders the club believes The stand on breeders awards was taken when the directors of the Thoroughbred Club met a group of central Kentucky breeders James C Stone president of the club presided Others present were Olin Gentry Dan B Midkiff Thomas Carr Piatt Thomas R Underwood Charles Kenney Charles A Asbury Thomas Piatt Ira Drympn Jay D Weil Charles Nuckols Warren Wright Leslie Combs II and Joe H Palmer
