Begda Upsets Foes In Win at Suffolk SuffolkCharges Charges Home Neck Before Black Grip and K Dorko In Smashing Performance PerformanceBOSTON BOSTON Mass May 27 Begda a gray filly racing for J C Braswell Tulsa Okla patron and the extreme outsider of five that met in the Brookline Purse turned in a smashing performance to achieve her first triumph of the year The Brookline carried a purse of 1500 and was a condi ¬ tion affair for those listed in grade C It was only in the closing strides that Begda managed to get up and triumph by a neck over A Vilones Black Grip Just a nose back K Dorko carried the R Rob ¬ ertson silks into third place placeAs As the race was run K Dorko may prob ¬ ably have been best The Balko colt was tardy leaving the stalls and when moving up nearing the far turn on the inside was blocked and had to be eased back During the early running Black Grip who had taken the top in the initial strides had drawn clear Pony Ballet chased closest after the leader while the ultimate winner raced along in third place Mixer headed the trailing K Dorko DorkoPony Pony Ballet Drops Back BackAfter After half the distance had been tra ¬ versed Pony Ballet tired of the pace and dropped back to last place Begda was now in second place and Mixer was show ¬ ing before the Robertson representative Trent steered Black Grip wide coming into the stretch while K Dorko benefited by staying close to the inner rail moved up to head Begda momentarily While Black Grip had lost some ground coming into the home lane Claggett had steered the Braswell miss wider still Begda responded gamely to every call and was rewarded by taking the lead in the last few strides stridesA A furlong from home Trent subjected Black Grip to a vigorous drive and while the Flying Heels gelding held on tena ciously he simply was not good enough to cope with Begda and barely lasted long enough to gain the nod over K Dorko The other two members of the company played little serious part in the running during the last quarter mile milePleasant Pleasant weather prevailed and a crowd of 9712 was on hand handTwo Two highly promising colts Sir Drake and Eternity had theircolors lowered when Cattachiptico a daughter of Sunador came to the end of the five furlongs of the Newton Purse with a lead of a length Sir Drake was forced to be content with the place and Eternity the oddson choice faded from serious contention during the last furlong to gain the show award Drawaway and Breakable Miss the only other two in the company were never in the hunt racing far back all the way Cattachiptico paid 1580
