Maxiekin Makes It Two Straight at Fairmqunt FairmquntDrives Drives Home Ahead of Clarksville In Featured Annapolis Handicap HandicapCOLLINS COLLINS VILLE 111 June 12 Having defeated a majority of the members of the field for the Annapolis Handicap in last Saturdays feature Maxiekin Sol Rouch ers aging daughter of Jacopo scored her second straight victory in that named principal attraction at Fairmount Park this afternoon It was a rough run sixfurlong dash with John Greeners Clarksville the favorite second and C Williamsons Gold Mike third Franks Boy was fourth and Bashful Duck who was returning to com ¬ petition after an 18month absence fifth in the field of eight eightMiss Miss Ethel and Franks Boy dominated the pace to the stretch where Maxiekin drove forward on the outside and Bashful Duck attempted to find room next to the rail The latter was blocked at the furlong post but McLeod astride his second win ¬ ner brought Maxiekin forward to lead Clarksville by three parts of a length Gold Mike from the start was in the thick of the fight and O K Mullen was done after a half mile Doubtful ran by O K Mullen in the final sixteenth sixteenthMaxiekin Maxiekin was weighted at 110 pounds two less than Miss Ethel who carried the top weight Franks Boy also had up 110 pounds poundsA A crowd estimated at 6000 was present for the sport and with the track in its best condition since the opening sparkling time was recorded in most of the numbers numbersBordeau Bordeau Vainikos Khaygram opposed practically the same field he defeated last Saturday in todays fifth race and again the consistent son of Mr Khayyam was victorious Sun Pharos was the runnerup and Miss Militant third Ballyarnett the second choice was fourth in the small field of five Jim Pat being the trailer trailerBe Be Calm fine running daughter of Roman Soldier who is equally at home over a dry or muddy track chalked up her third straight victory of the meeting and her tenth in 16 starts this year in account ¬ ing for the third contest This was a dash of six furlongs and attracted six speedsters under allowance conditions Miss Advice was the runnerup and Carbonate came from well back to garner third honors Steadied while Water Tower was pacemak ing Be Calm with George McLeod aboard went into the lead midway of the stretch and the finish found her two lengths be ¬ fore Miss Advice Peanuts McCadden lodged a claim of foul against the winner but it was not entertained entertainedIncidentally Incidentally Be Calm was the first suc ¬ cessful favorite she being held at odds of i 9 to 10
