Army Emergency Relief Gets Bay Meadows Gift Check for 100000 Forwarded To Organization by Bill Kyne KyneSAN SAN MATEO Calif June 12 Before departing for Los Angeles where he is scheduled to confer with Jerry Giesler chairman of the California Horse Racing Board regarding fall dates at Bay Mead ¬ ows general manager William P Kyne announced that a check for 100000 had been mailed to Maj Gen Irving J Phillip son Army Emergency Relief executive di ¬ rector at Washington D C CThe The check for 100000 to Army Emer ¬ gency Relief stated Kyne is in addition to that already contributed by the Califor ¬ nia Jockey Club to Navy hospitals and bases in the San Francisco area since last fall An additional 75000 still in escrow also is earmarked for Army relief reliefRacing Racing has a definite part on the home front during wartime continued Kyne but that part must be gearing itself to the war effort and only by allotting a major portion of the proceeds of a race meeting to war effort organizations can the sport of racing fulfill their responsi ¬ bility I hope to be able to raise a total of 1500000 for the armed forces and war organizations from the sport at Bay Mead ¬ ows which has already allotted approxi ¬ mately a half million dollars to these agencies agenciesBay Bay Meadows splendid showing for war relief was the result of 107 days of racing during the spring and fall meetings meetingsKyne Kyne is making plans for a fall meeting at the Meadows to get under way the sec ¬ ond Saturday in October OctoberA A highclass array of stakes and handi ¬ caps would be offered in an effort to at ¬ tract topnotch stables from the eastern and midwest racing sectors
