| | j i ! 1 ; , ■ Eligibility Payments on Six Chicago Stakes Due May 1 The next and final eligibility payments on six Arlington-Washington early closing stakes are due May 1, horsemen were re-I minded Saturday. A total of 1.022 nominees are still in the running, with close to 200 horsemen represented. There are 102 now eligible for the Arlington Classic, to be run July 22, with a present value of 7,400; the American Derby, set for August 26, has 101 and 7,150 in the growing stakes; the Arlington Futurity on July 15 and the Washington Park Pu-: turity on September 2, respectively, have 238 and 234. with the totals mounting to ,4,700 and 4,575: and the two-year-old filly stakes — the Arlington Lassie, on July 1, and the Princess Pat. on August 5 — attract- ing 175 and 172, with 6,900 and 6,780 put up thus far. The next closing date for nominations ,will not come until June 17. At that time a call for entries will be made for the 0,000 added Stars and Stripes Handicap, the 0,000 Hyde Park Stakes and the 0,000 Equipoise Mile. Thereafter during the meeting, opening June 19. the nominations will close a week in advance of the running of the events.
