Herman Conkiing Named Third Steward for Pimlico Meeting BALTIMORE. Md., Apiil 8— Herman Conkiing, veteran horseman and steward at many major race tracks, will be the "third steward at the 28-day cooperative meeting of the four big Maryland associations which opens at Pimlico Wednesday. He will serve with Geoige Brown, Jr., representing the state racing commission, and William L. Harron, steward for the Maryland Jockey Club. His appointment was confirmed by the racing commission today. Brown and Harron first named Richard A. Johnson as their associate, but the racing commission rejected the appointment. -
