Lincoln Officials Set Meeting Stage StageStewards Stewards Busy With Early Applications for Licenses Kentucky Racers Are Due DueSTICKNEY STICKNEY 111 May 10 The vanguard of turf officials who will preside at the coming Lincoln Fields meeting has put in an appearance in the Chicago area and with the offices of the track opened up and scores of horses exercising daily over the Hawthorne track where the session will be held the stage for the 29 days of racing is rapidly becoming set setC C Bruce Head veteran Kentuckian who will serve as presiding steward and Tom Young one of Americas most experienced track superintendents are among the rac ¬ ing heads already on the job William H Shelley the racing secretary has fashioned a seemingly adequate book of conditions for the first 10 days of racing and it has been distributed among the horsemen Head with his fellow stewards including William Hamilton who represents the Illi ¬ nois Racing Board are busy looking over the early applications for trainer and jockey licenses licensesWord Word has been received from Churchill Downs that many regulars of former years at Lincoln Fields will be present for the coming season Among those who have applied for and been granted stabling space at Hawthorne are Jake Lowenstein Mose Lowenstein Col C V Whitney John Marsch Grant Thorn Kirby Ramsey Ruth Sidell Jack Hanover Nick Burger A J Black H Wells and J P Sallee SalleeStarter Starter Reuben White who has been do ¬ ing such good work at Churchill Downs will be present for the opening next Tues ¬ day He will have Sportsmans Park starter Roy Dickersons crew to help him out until such time as his own crew finishes up at the Louisville track White started at Lincoln Fields last year The local meet ¬ ing this season will conflict for five days with Churchill Downs which closes one week from Saturday C BRUCE HEAD Lincoln Fields pre ¬ siding steward has opened offices at Hawthorne and is handling premeeting details in connection with next Tues ¬ days inaugural
