Six Rich Suffolk Stakes Slated to Close Today TodayMassachusetts Massachusetts Yankee and Mayflower Deadlines Here HereEAST EAST BOSTON Mass May 31 Entries for six major stakes which are to have their decisions at Suffolk Downs during the present meeting are to close on Thurs ¬ day June 1 The 10000 added Betsy Ross Stakes fivefurlong dash for two yearold fillies will be run on Saturday July 1 The 25000 Yankee Handicap one mile and threesixteenths test for three yearolds is scheduled fpr July 4 and the 10000 Hanna Dustin Handicap for fillies and mares threeyearolds and upward will be the headline offering at the seaside course on July 15 15Wednesday Wednesday July 19 will mark the 1944 renewal of the 50000 Massachusetts Handicap a one mile and a furlong event for threeyearolds and upward which is always the highlight of the seaside course season The Mayflower Stakes for two yearolds to meet at five and onehalf fur ¬ longs is down fpr decision on Saturday July 22 and carries an added money value of 25000 Racing secretary Charles J McLennan of the East Boston track stated today that he expects a record list of nominations for the five Suffolk Downs stakes this year
