Aboyne Carries Joan Seattles Colors To Popular Victory at Suffolk Downs Scores by Length and Half As Little Hoops Mixer and Hoosier Finish Noses Apart ApartEAST EAST BOSTON Mass June 7 Aboyne a gelded son of Mirafel and Farceuse car ¬ ried Miss Joan Seattles silks to a popular victory in the third race one of the better offerings at Suffolk Downs today before an enthusiastic and large crowd Smartly rid ¬ den by the veteran Bob Wholey Aboyne reached the finish of the sixfurlong sprint a length and a half before Irving J Whites Little Hoops who was a nose in front of Mrs Wallace Renards well regarded Mixer MixerShouldering Shouldering 119 pounds under the al ¬ lowance conditions of the dash Aboyne completed his task over the fast track in 112 and favored in the speculation re ¬ warded his backers with a 720 straight tote payoff Aboyne who was a consist ¬ ent performer last year won his second purse of the year and stamped himself as one of the better performers in grade D DAboyne Aboyne was hustled to the front before going a quarter mile a head in advance of Rangoon who was away rather slowly Little Hoops first to show leaving the stalls was third at the upper turn and very much in the thick of the battle Mixer shuffled back after the break did not have a horse beaten at this point and began his bid from the extreme outside outsideLittle Little Hoops took command near the stretch but drifted out slightly on the turn as Aboyne moved in fast on the inside and reached the lead Little Hoops held on well during the closing drive but was unable to match the victors speed and just lasted to save the place award over the fast closing Mixer Hoosier ran fourth while Rangoon tired from his early efforts and dropped back to sixth sixthSix Six sprinters from Grade E met in the six furlongs opener and it resulted in a length victory for James Johnsons Mary Alice Valdina Secret choice for the dash ran second a neck before Depi who closed stoutly to attain minor honors Sorgho who flattered with a good display of speed to the stretch had nothing left when set down for the drive and ran last Mary Alice handled by apprentice Pat Patterson paid 1200 straight straightO O Sterling furnished the winner in the second race which matched seven four yearolds and upward from class C his Jopier earning a nose verdict over Hard ¬ ship who was a similar distance in advance of A One at the final marker Hardship suffered interference near the half mile pole when sent between Jopier and La Scala but was taken to the outside for the drive and after reaching the lead failed to with ¬ stand Jopiers belated challenge
