Program for Convention of N ARC At Chicago Takes Definite Form Numerous Subjects of Turf To Be Discussed by Solons During July 3 to 6 Confab ConfabLEXINGTON LEXINGTON Ky June 8 The pro ¬ gram for the annual meeting of the Na ¬ tional Association of State Racing Com ¬ missioners in Chicago July 3 4 5 and 6 is rapidly being completed and will contain many subjects of interest in connection with the turfs program The association has invited Herbert Bayard Swope chair ¬ man of the Turf Committee of Amerioa and Lincoln Plaut turf writer and direc ¬ tor of field operations for DAILY RACING FORM who suggested racings war fund to discuss the war program Numerous subjects such as the modification of the claiming practices through more graded handicaps definitions of stakes uniform ¬ ity of racing rules trainers licenses and the necessity for cooperation of the state commissions in respecting rulings will be discussed discussedAmong Among outside organizations which will be represented by spokesmen are the American Trainers Association of which John Gaver is president Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association of which Maj Thomas McCreery is president and the Thoroughbred Club of America of which Dr Charles Hagyard is president The Jersey Act and its postwar future will be discussed by J A Estes editor of the Bloodhorse BloodhorseA A complete program of entertainment has been arranged by the Illinois Racing Board which is the host commission with the cooperation of all the racing associa ¬ tions in the Chicago area A committee of which Benjamin Lindheimer executive director of Arlington Park is chairman and Clement Nance secretary of the Illi ¬ nois Racing Board is secretary has been named All presidents of Chicago track associations and members of the Illinois Racing Board are serving on the commit ¬ tee teeHeadquarters Headquarters at Stevens Hotel HotelThe The program will include a reception on the night of Monday July 3 at the Stev ¬ ens Hotel which will serve as headquarters for the convention Registration will take place at this time at the Stevens Hotel and president Charles Connors of the National Association of State Racing Com ¬ missioners will announce the membership of the active committees for the conven ¬ tion at that time timeOn On Tuesday July 4 the association will be entertained with a luncheon given by the Chicago committee at Washington Park at which time the Charity Week of Chicago racing will have its climax with the renewalOf the Stars and Stripes Hand ¬ icap for threeyearolds and upward hav ¬ ing an added value of 50000 Arrange ¬ ments have been made with the I C Sub ¬ urban system for transportation to Wash ¬ ington Park ParkWednesday Wednesday morning July 6 the visiting commissioners will be welcomed by Maj Ednyfed Williams chairman of the Illi ¬ nois Racing Board who is vicepresident of the NARC and who invited the com ¬ missioners to come to Chicago Beverley Broun past president will respond The associations activities for the year will be reviewed by president Connors chairman of the Massachusetts State Racing Com ¬ mission in his annual address The pro ¬ gram calls for a luncheon Wednesday WednesdayContinued Continued on Page Three Program for NARC Convention At Chicago Nearly Completed CompletedContinued Continued from Page One Oneperhaps perhaps at the Stevens if an allday busi ¬ ness program develops with a dinner Wednesday evening at the Chez Paree PareeThursday Thursday will be devoted to the busi ¬ ness of the association including election of officers and the reports of the rules and resolutions committees Thursday night the commissioners and others in Chicago for the NARC meeting will join in the testimonial dinner to John Hervey Sal vator one of the greatest of turf writers
