Displayer Closes Rapidly To Take Detroit Opener OpenerJockey Jockey Mojena Pilots McKnight Racer to TwoLength Accounting AccountingDETROIT DETROIT Mich June 8 Cornelia Mo ¬ jena seen in silks at the Fair Grounds dur ¬ ing the past few years and only recently arrived from Havana Cuba piloted his first winner when he brought J L Mc Knights Displayer from far back to annex the opener The son of Display Princess Camelia charged hard through the stretch to catch the faltering Sucyc in Ihe late stages and drew away to a twolength deci ¬ sion After leading from shortly after the start Sucyc evidently ran out of speed He did however last for the place position three parts of a length before Fur Coat who raced prominently in spots Time for the six furlongs was 114 over a fast track and a winning ticket was worth 1660 The favorite Developer was never really able to menace seriously At one stage he was about two lengths off the pace but he abruptly dropped back backIn In another offthepace drive netting a length triumph Clarion Farms Sealane graduated from the maiden ranks in the second offering and at the expense of the favored Some Gala The successful three yearold crossed over in front of Some Gala while assuming command in the stretch and thereby eliminated that filly forcing her to be eased Although Tomos set the pace under menace from the very outset he just could not stall off the winner and was a fast tiring second at the end being half a length in front of Sea Victory
