Entries for Six Suffolk Stakes Will Close Today Lists for Massachusetts, Other Events to Be Released Next Week EAST BOSTON, Mass., June 14.— Entries are to be released during the coming week for the six major stakes to be decided during the summer meeting at Suffolk Downs. Nominations close tomorrow for the 0,000 Massachusetts Handicap, the 5,000 Yankee Handicap and Mayflower Stakes, the 0,000 Hannah Dustin Handicap and the Miles Standish and Betsy Ross Stakes, also bearing a 0,000 value. Racing secretary Charles J. McLennan and his aides contacted leading horsemen in all turf cen ters, and the nominating lists are certain to number practically every good horse campaigning in the east. Last years Massachusetts attracted 37 top grade routers. The 1945 line-up is expected to top that number, judging by the early response to the 0,000 classic, richest stake in New England. The presence on the eastern seaboard of the bulk of the better three-year-olds, attracted by the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes, will also mean a classier renewal of the Yankee Handicap, restricted to members of the three-year-old ranks. No fewer than 34 were named for the 1944 contest. That number, too, should be topped. As usual the two-year-olds are having things pretty much their own way at Suffolk Downs. Officials of the seaside course are firm believers in finding opportunities for the two-year-olds.
