Santa Anita Derby Lures Busher, Sea Sovereign Checkerhall and Bymeabond Also Among Ten in 0,000 Fixture ARCADIA, Calif., June 22.— The brilliant filly Busher and the California-bred Sea Sovereign will be the favored duo of the 10 named for the eighth running of the Santa Anita Derby tomorrow. They, with the Mexico City three-year-old champion, Checkerhall, and the Bradley-bred Bymeabond round out the big four in the 0,000 added race at the Arcadia track. It is estimated well over 50,000 fans will be on hand to watch them do battle for the prize. Sea Sovereign will have the support of Bismarck Sea as a running mate, while Patrimony will serve as a companion of Busher. Others named are Jay Paleys Best Effort and W. W. Crenshaws Valdina Streak, who will run as an entry, and Norman Churchs Proclamation and the T W Stables Man o Glory. George Woolf, deemed by many to be Americas premier money rider, will be aboard Bymeabond. Owner J. Kel Hous-sels closed the deal for his services this morning. Johnny Longden will be up on Busher, Ferrill Zufelt will guide Sea Sovereign and the care of Checkerhall will be entrusted to Dunice Dubois. Other jockeys named are Charlie Corbett on Man o Glory, Willii Bailey on Proclamation, Jack Westrope on Best Effort and Otto Grohs on Valdina Streak. Sea Sovereign, Checkerhall and Best Effort will each carry 126 pounds. Busher, lone filly in the contest, will have 121 pounds up and each of the others will race with 119 pounds aboard. With 10 starters, the gross value of the-Derby will be 6,075. The winners share will be 2,750 plus all nomination, entrance and starting fees. From that amount will be deducted the trainer and grooms awards. The second horse will earn 0,-000, the third horse ,000 and the fourth horse ,500. Post time for the Derby is expected to be about 4:40 p. m. Pacific war time and the race will be broadcast direct from the track over the NBC system.
