U YearOld Has Competed In 314 Races Still Wins WinsCHARLES CHARLES TOWN RACE TRACK Charles Town W Va May 25 During the 15 years that the sport of racing has been presented at this countryside race track nestled in the Shenandoah Valley theres been many a tale told and many an oddity of racing revealed Its not strange therefore to discover a horse who is almost as old as the thetrack track itselfHes still winning races too Worthowning is the animal He is one of the few horses in America still in competition who has started more than 300 times timesWorthowning Worthowning is 13 years eld The gelded son of Longworth Her Own won the 61st race of his lone career a few days ago here It was his 314th start since he started campaigning as a twoyearold back in 1937 His best year insofar as concerns earn ¬ ings was in 1947 when he succeeded in making the winners circle on eight different occasions to earn 6845 6845The The thoroughbred has had a rather varied career too At one time he was traded for a goat That Thatwas was as a juvenile Melvin Hazen who bred him raced Worthewning as a twoyearold then made the swap with George Allen J L Garth right the horses present owner ac ¬ quired him by claim from Allen in June 1940
