Hearings in New York Labor Case Continued ContinuedTwo Two Grooms Testify Almost All Their Work Is at State Tracks TracksNEW NEW YORK N Y May 25 Continuing hearings before the New York State Labor Relations Board to determine jurisdiction in the dispute between a large group of racehorse trainers and owners and Local 814 of the Teamsters Union AFL representing the New York grooms and exercise riders the board today listened to arguments on the part of counsel heard testimony and accepted various exhibits in evidence A final decision in the case ap ¬ peared far distant distantThe The hearings which are expected to con ¬ tinue for some time are to determine whether or not New York racing is to be considered interstate commerce commercePhotostats Photostats of sales records from William duPonts Foxcatcher Farm and Mrs Ma ¬ rion duPont Scotts Montpelier Farm were introduced by attorney T M Kerrigan as testimony that racing knows no state bar ¬ riers These exhibits were riot protested by Lasker who mei j observed that he did not consider them vole ant to this case caseTwo Two grooms John Minton and Robert Bitroff testified that almost allof their work was at New York tracks and that they had rarely left the Metropolitan cir ¬ cuit Minton is now employed with Matt Bradys string at Belmont Park and Bi ¬ troff takes care of horses for Arthur Rob ¬ ertson The testimony of both grooms was protested by lawyers representing the horsemen on the grounds that they were not connected with stables owned by any of the respondents This objection was overruled by trial examiner Walter J Law ler when board attorney Murray Lasker stated he was merely trying to present the general picture of a New York grooms life and duties
