Fast Campaigners Lured in Ypsilanti As Detroit Offers MidWeek Turf Bill David Fergusons Ariel Ace Carries Top Weight Likely Choice Over Silvers Pride PrideFAIR FAIR GROUNDS Detroit Mich May 25 The midweek program at this course is topped by the sixfurlong Ypsilanti Purse which is offered in seventh place on the card The headliner fashioned for four yearolds and older has attracted seven seasoned campaigners to vie for the 3000 prize under allowance conditions and the field shapes up as likely to provide an in ¬ teresting contest As usual a race for nov ¬ ice riders opens the bill and with the ex ¬ ception of the feature all races carry the equalizing claiming clause clauseIn In the Ypsilanti David Fergusons fleet Ariel Ace is compelled under the conditions to shoulder top weight of 117 pounds but may carry the bulk of public support The son of Ariel had early speed to force the pace of the winning Porters Broom in the 10000 Boots and Saddle Handicap here last Saturday in which he was installed choice but weakened from the effort to finish well back He meets no such rivals here and may have needed that race to put him right on edge although he was a con ¬ vincing winner during his spring campaign at Oaklawn Park ParkMrs Mrs Norman Hernandez has named Sil ¬ vers Pride for the feature and the son of Silver Horde appeared to be the one most likely to force Ariel Ace to the limit Sil ¬ vers Pride has been a hardhitting sort winning eight races last season and one this year at New Orleans in addition to finishing second and third on many occa ¬ sions From a slow beginning Silvers Pride finished boldly to be fourth in the Boots and Saddle and could be extremely dan ¬ gerous with more early speed speedA A E Harpers Upandatem an invader from Canada where he was winner of an allowance race at Woodbine Park is ob ¬ viously fit and may be able to earn some portion of this purse by a peak perform ¬ ance The Detroit Stable has named Eva T a somewhat unpredictable daughter of Heather Broom who is capable of making her presence felt by a top effort She was able to win three races last season and fa ¬ vors this racing strip stripSweepnito Sweepnito from the stable of W E Mc ¬ Donald needs no introduction to local pa ¬ trons although he was not too successful here last season The Ypsilanti field is completed by Dr R C Austins lightly campaigned Bellbrook and Grand Stables Shirt Band who appear to be the outsiders in the field
